DesktopLinux.com has a nice article covering several reports detailing the penetration Linux has in various areas. The article gives a nice rundown area by area. What surprised me the most was that of the top 500 High Performance Computers Linux ran on 471. I am pretty sure that Windows didn’t run on any. The other cool fact that came out is that Linux has now managed to achieve a little more than 1% of the total desktop market. The full percentages break down like this:
“Linux server revenue share grew to 16.8 percent, says IDC, and Linux is now running on 91 percent of the 500 fastest supercomputers.”
Very cool to see things moving forward at such steady pace. Check out the article and amaze your friends with a fresh set of stats.
