I found a very good article over at Linux Magazine. Christopher Smart writes about whether Linux should try to place nice with everyone else, like Windows, or if Linux should continue along with free software and not worry so much about all of the proprietary formats that abound. While we have seen the integration of Linux with Windows help Linux gain momentum in the distributed server world, the desktop side still has yet to catch up.
