Is Linux Mint really more popular than Ubuntu?

If Distrowatch page views are your yardstick then yes.  But in reality its' kind of hard to give the win to Linux Mint since their flagship distro if based on Ubuntu.  The folks over at BeginLinux.com sucked us into this debate and you can hear more of our conversation about it on the podcast.

Ubuntu 11.10 Review....

Linuxinsider has a nice though negative review of Ubuntu 11.10.  Most of the bad focuses on the UI and everyones favorite punching bag the Unity Interface.  As with most things the article talks about the small number of things making any large changes.  This release is part of a run up to a new LTS release so this is expected.  More stablity and more support for new stuff is expexted.

Ubuntu has it's head in the clouds....

Ubuntu has been doing a lot of things lately focusing themselves on "the cloud".  They have switched from eucalyptus to openstack and now they are partnering with HP to be the os for their cloud option.  Over at ZDNet they have a nice little arctile talking about it all.  Check it out and let us know what you think about it.

Are you a developer of Linux Apps? Do you want to become one?  Ubuntu is trying to help people get started.  They are offering tools to get you going, advice when you get stuck, and a place to sell your app.  It's all great and the app store for Ubuntu is the only thing we have seen to compete with Apples, Googles, and the upcoming Microsoft store.  So go check it out.
