Is this the begining of the end for Operating Systems?

ITWorld tries to imply that stand alone boxes of Liunx may disappear becuase Mandrake is having problems.  While we at linuxinstall.net would miss it the economics are understandable.  The Mandrake team has been struggling for some time.  This distro was one of the first Desktop Focused Distrobutions.  It really hasn't kept pace with competitors like Ubuntu and Mint but it still works for most things.

Hey Guess what Microsoft is gonna do Linux....

Microsoft woke up to the fact that to do a cloud service you have to do linux.  It's now offical that in 2012 they will by popular demand be providing Linux servers on their Azure Cloud service. ZDNet has a nice article with a few more details about the announcement.

Redhat reaches 6.2

Redhat has released the latest version of it's flagship distribution of Linux.  Now at version of 6.2.  The new release is not a major release but has lots of nice updates and brings the 6.x stream up to current standards.  Redhat is one of Linux's biggest stars and has had a tremendous track record that has made it a darling of the Wall Street.
